GoodMeasure develops energy monitoring and control solutions using IOT and AWS platforms. We want to be at the heart of electricity smartgrids and DER (Distributed Energy Resources) and we need fantastic people who can help build this vision.  

FCL Metering (FCLM) is an end to end Metering Equipment Provider to the Energy Retail and Consumer markets. Specialising in bespoke installations, FCLM provides Smart (AMI) and Legacy meter installations and asset management, including Data and Field Services.

The role

We are looking for someone to join our team who is committed to applying engineering best practice in a balanced and pragmatic way.   The Senior DevOps Engineer is responsible for leading the software development and support for the GoodMeasure product range as well as supporting the systems architecture for FCLM.  This role leads a small software team of permanent and contract resource responsible for firmware, cloud and apps.
As someone that is experienced with DevOps on an AWS and similar tech stacks, you will ensure that our customers experience best practise uptime, while continuing to implement and deploy new features.

As this is a small team, you will be providing both technical leadership as well as hands on supporting and implementing the solution.

The requirements
To be successful in this role, you will have:


  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in engineering
  • 5+ years’ experience in a senior engineering DevOps role
  • Demonstrable experience with AWS technology stack including Elastic Search
  • Experience in Ubuntu/ Debian Linux; Nodejs/Expres / angularjs and Atlassian Jira/Confluence
  • Experience with IOT services
  • Solid understanding of modern engineering techniques for cloud services
  • Proficient at MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to demonstrate a flexible and creative approach to problem solving, good judgement and a proactive, positive “can do” attitude.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills with a collaborative style of engagement and experience dealing with external parties.
  • Demonstrated ability to organise and motivate self to meet deadlines.
  • An uncompromising approach to health & safety and ability to drive H&S excellence through a controlled network environment for all work carried out on or supporting the network.

Ideally you will have knowledge of energy and telecommunications industries with the ability to think and act strategically. You will be pragmatic in your approach to challenges and be able to articulate ideas to technical and non-technical audiences. Most importantly, you will be team player and enjoy working in a collaborative working environment.
